The Campaign for wool: Introducing the M&S Originals AW22 Collection

    To mark Wool Month 2022, Marks and Spencer’s worked alongside The Campaign for Wool to showcase an M&S Originals wool edit, featuring key wool seperates from the AW22 collection. Championing the natural, renewable and biodegradable benefits offered by wool as a fibre.

    The M&S Originals collection offers thoughtfully designed, responsible Menswear. Taking inspiration from archival pieces and reinventing them, paying homage to their unique British legacy. The limited-edition collection celebrates M&S incredible provenance and Plan A commitments including recycled wool, responsibly sourced wool, responsibly sourced Merino, undyed wool, recycled polyester, cotton sourced through the Better Cotton programme and recycled cotton.

    Armley Revere Coat

    M&S Originals – Reworked. Remade. Responsible. The Armley Revere Coat, gaining its name from west Leeds' industrial district,
    is made from undyed wool rich fabric.
    The Armley's tailored fit, revere collar, traditional urea buttons and brushed houndstooth weave details nod to M&S's archive designs.
    Completed with recycled polyester lining, shoulder pads to add structure to the coat.

    Originating in 1800s Scotland, the Houndstooth weave was influenced by the uneven outline of dog’s teeth, creating its broken check pattern.
    Popularised by Edward VIII in 1930, houndstooth became associated with luxury and is an iconic mainstay in sartorial dressing.
